The 8 Hyrox stations, explained
Hyrox is eight 1-kilometre runs alternating with eight strength stations, always in the same order: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls. Everyone races the exact same course, which is why times are comparable worldwide. Below is what each station is, in the order you meet it.

1. SkiErg
1000 metres on the ski ergometer. Upper body, lats and core, straight after the first run. It sets the tone: go too hard here and the whole race feels it.
2. Sled Push
Push a weighted sled across the floor over a set distance. Pure legs and full-body drive, and the weight depends on your division. This is where many races are won or lost.
3. Sled Pull
Pull the weighted sled back toward you, hand over hand. Back, arms and grip, and the grip fatigue carries into every station after it.
4. Burpee Broad Jumps
Burpees with a forward jump, repeated over a set distance. Full-body and lungs, and the one station where pacing beats power.
5. Rowing
1000 metres on the rower, at the halfway point of the race. Legs, back and lungs, a chance to settle a rhythm before the back half.
6. Farmers Carry
Carry a heavy weight in each hand over a set distance. Grip and core under load, right when your grip is already tired.
7. Sandbag Lunges
Walking lunges with a sandbag across your shoulders, over a set distance. Deep steps on tired legs, the sting before the finish.
8. Wall Balls
Throw a weighted ball to a target for a set number of reps. The final station and the slowest for the field: no-reps and broken sets cost more than muscle here.
The runs and the roxzone
Between every station is a 1-kilometre run, eight in total. And between the run and the station sits the roxzone: the walking and checking in and out, which counts fully towards your time. It is where the biggest gap with the front of the field hides.
- What are the 8 Hyrox stations in order?
- SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, with a 1-kilometre run before each one.
- Which Hyrox station is the hardest?
- It differs per athlete, but wall balls comes last and is the slowest for the field, and the sled push is where many races are decided. See the field times per station for how your category compares.
- Is the station order always the same?
- Yes. The order is fixed worldwide, which is exactly why Hyrox times are comparable between athletes and events.
